Today our second son turns 18. Part of me wants to ask just when that happened. But truthfully, I know just how it happened: one steady day after another. Of course, not every day was perfect. What mother could truthfully claim such a thing? But God, in His lovingkindness, richly blessed us with eighteen wonderful years to teach, train, laugh with (and at!), cry with, and just enjoy our son. We are not perfect parents, but we press on, knowing that we can trust the Holy One, whose abundant grace and mercy offer us the sure hope of His care and ability to conform our son to His image, in His time.
We have much for which to be thankful. And today, we celebrate with our son another year of life and breath and the opportunity to live for the risen Lord, who has unloaded upon us the immeasurable riches of His blessings.
